| Los Cabos is the paradise where desert turns into an oasis and includes the town of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, connected by a 40 km (25 mi) long scenic corridor. It boats an important infrastructure built on the best beaches in the area. San Jose del cabo is a quiet typically Mexican town, is the site of Costa Azul, Palmilla, Cabo Real, El Tule, Las Viudas and El Medano beaches. Los Cabos is known as being one of the best sport fishing destinations, especially for marlin and swordfish, which can be caught here in greater quantities than anywhere else in the world. Los Cabos is also famous for its international fishing tournaments, which are held annually from June to December. The San Ignacio lagoon and the Ojo de Liebre area, in Guerrero Negro, located 928 km ( 576 mi) north of Los Cabos, have been declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites and offer the opportunity to observe the gray whales that migrate from Alaska. In the surrounding areas, visitors can enjoy walks, mountain biking, camping, rock climbing, and bird watching, among many other activities. Los Cabos also offers tourists the change to go surfing, sea kayaking, water skiing, sailing, swimming, scuba diving and snorkeling, which makes it a complete adventure because you can observe colonies of black coral, underwater gorges, sand cascades, rays, whale sharks and sea lions. There are also desert safaris with Hummer Tours and ATV Excursions. Los Cabos also forged a reputation thanks to the excellence of its chefs and award winning cuisine, which is recognized the world over. Visitors will also find elegant gourmet restaurants, as well as eateries located in the old haciendas that feature live music and dancing.
